Downtown Update July 16

FORT MORGAN DOWNTOWN INFRASTRUCTURE UPDATE (July 16, 2009)

Below is a summary of activities, and not to be considered all inclusive.

  1. ECI has reported that after the first 46 construction days the project is on schedule.
  1. I have attached a aerial photo of the bulb-out on the SW corner of Beaver/Main Street starting to take shape.
  1. Asphalt paving top lift is scheduled for this weekend (pending subgrade prep on shoulders) on Main Street from Platte Ave to just North of Beaver.  This will allow ECI will open up Main Street from Platte Ave to Bijou Ave, including some of the parking on the 500 block.

4.       There will be intermittent water service disruptions along Main St. from Beaver to Railroad.

  1. Activities worked this week:
    1. Installed 400′ of 16″ water main along Main Street from Kiowa to Railroad.
    2. Installed 125′ of 24″ RCP from Kiowa heading to Railroad.
    3. Installed water cross east section to connect new 16-inch water main in Main Street to existing 8-inch main along Beaver Ave.
    4. Placed seatwalls and columns at the Main/Beaver & Main/Kiowa intersections. (The colors will lighten as it cures)
    5. Placed color flatwork at SW corner of Beaver/Main intersection.
    6. Installed irrigation and electrical conduit along Main.
    7. Installed street light pole foundations west side of Main from Beaver to Kiowa.
    8. Placed concrete curb and gutter east side of Main from Beaver to Kiowa intersection.
    9. Flow-filled coal chutes at 228/230 Main Street.
    10. Subgrade Main street from just north of Beaver through Kiowa for fly ash and paver curb.
    11. Removed sidewalk east side of Main from Beaver to Kiowa.
  2. Activities Scheduled next week:
    1. Water services/Meter Pits from Kiowa to Railroad.
    2. Install 24″ RCP to Railroad.
    3. Start 36″ RCP install from Kiowa.
    4. Curb & Gutter east side Main Beaver to Kiowa intersections.
    5. Place grey concrete sidewalk east side Main Street 10′ section next to buildings.
    6. Place color sidewalk along curb line west side Main Street.
    7. Place color flatwork at NW corner of Beaver/Main.
    8. Place ramp sections at Beaver & Kiowa intersections.
    9. Install paver curb along Main Street from Beaver to Kiowa.
    10. Install underdrain and sub-base gravel for pavers.
    11. Start fly ash operation on Main Street from just North of Beaver to Kiowa.
    12. Decorative seatwalls installation will continue on east side of Main Street at Kiowa.
    13. Underground electrical from Beaver to Kiowa.
    14. Pavement markings along Main St.

The City staff, ECI and their subconsultants say thank you, the businesses and residents of Fort Morgan, for their overall continued support and understanding of the construction activities.
