July 23 Downtown Construction Project Update

FORT MORGAN DOWNTOWN INFRASTRUCTURE UPDATE (July 23, 2009)

Below is a summary of activities, and not to be considered all inclusive.

  1. ECI has reported that after the first 52 construction days the project is on schedule.
  2. Asphalt paving top lift is scheduled for this weekend on Main Street from Platte Ave to just North of Beaver.  This will allow ECI will open up Main Street from Platte Ave to Bijou Ave, including some of the parking on the 500 block. (3rd announcement is a charm, right?)
  3. There will be intermittent water service disruptions along Main St. from Kiowa to the tracks.
  4. Water service shut off Friday, 7/24/09, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM on 100 block.
  1. Activities worked this week:
    1. Installed 329′ of 16″ water main along Main Street from Railroad to City Hall.
    2. Installed 400′ of 36″ RCP storm pipe and several inlets from Kiowa to Railroad.
    3. Completed 24″ RCP at Railroad.
    4. Installed water services on the 200 block.
    5. Placed seatwalls and columns at the Main/Kiowa intersections. (The colors will lighten as it cures)
    6. Placed color flatwork at all corners of the Beaver/Main intersection.
    7. Placed grey concrete sidewalk east side of Main Street from 330 Main (Unique Embrodery) to 306 Main (Bijou T-Qwest).
    8. Placed 5′ color concrete band on west side of Main from 329 Main (The Times) to 305 Main (Holistic Health).
    9. Placed and tilled fly ash into subgrade on Main Street from Beaver to Kiowa.
    10. Installed traffic signal controller bases and pull boxes.
    11. Over-excavated subgrade east side of Main at grey sidewalk locations.
  1. Activities Scheduled next week:
    1. Water main cross intersection of Railroad and Main and main line tie into 14″ (anticipated water services off 100 block from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Wednesday 7/29/09).
    2. Water service connections to new 16-in watermain from Railroad to City Hall.
    3. Complete 36″ storm pipe in Railroad Intersection.
    4. Curb & Gutter east side Main Beaver to Kiowa intersections.
    5. Place color sidewalk along curb line east side Main Street.
    6. Place color flatwork at Beaver/Main & Kiowa intersections.
    7. Install paver curb along Main Street from Beaver to Kiowa.
    8. Install underdrain and sub-base gravel for permeable pavers.
    9. Decorative seatwalls installation will continue on SW corner of Kiowa.
    10. Underground electrical from Beaver to Kiowa east side along with light pole foundations.
    11. Paving from Beaver to Kiowa bottom lift (if subgrade is approved).

The City staff, ECI and their subconsultants say thank you, the businesses and residents of Fort Morgan, for their overall continued support and understanding of the construction activities.
