Progress is being made – the first picture is from June 25, the middle is July 31 and the last picture was taken August 13!

The new lamposts are being installed.

FORT MORGAN DOWNTOWN INFRASTRUCTURE UPDATE (August 13, 2009)
Below is a summary of activities, and not to be considered all inclusive.

* ECI has reported that after the first 70 construction days the project is on schedule.
* Please continue to obey all construction signage and barriers. Though the 300 block still isn’t open to vehicular traffic, please use designated pedestrian crossings (crosswalks) as you would elsewhere around town.
* Pat Merrill announced at the Wednesday DBA meeting that the City has tentatively planned for Parks Department to do snow removal on the new sidewalks for this upcoming winter.
* Though not posted, bicycles are still prohibited on the sidewalks. Just as they were prior to construction.
* The Annual Utility Week BBQ will be held on October 1st at City Park this year in conjunction with the CML District Meeting and Downtown Ribbon Cutting.

Activities worked this week:
* Placed flatwork on the SE and SW corners of Kiowa/Main intersection.
* Placed 160′ of grey sidewalk on the 200 block.
* Placed 400′ of paver curb on the 200 block.
* Placed 5′ color band on 200 block.
* Placed, rotomilled and compacted fly ash on 200 block.
* Installed liner, geotextile fabric, perforated drain pipe and #2 stone on west side of Main in parking paver area block 200.
* Installed light pole foundations along Main on 200 block.
* Installed signal pole and pedestrian pole foundations at Railroad.
* City crews installed decorative street lights on 300 block.
* Started joint sealant on the 300 block.
* Installation of permeable pavers on 300 block completed.
* Striping complete from 8th through the Beaver intersection.
* Directional boring conduit for future traffic signals under Railroad.

Activities Scheduled next week:
300 Block Activities:
a.       Clean/wash flatwork and asphalt to Kiowa and caulk expansion joints.
b.      Sawcut joints at plaques.
c.     Memorial plaque installation by City.
d.      Install tiles in seatwalls.

200 Block activities:
e.           Install liner, geotextile fabric, perforated drain pipe and #2 stone and #57 stone on east side of Main in paver area block.
f.        Set pavers on west side of Main.
g.            Concrete flatwork at the NE and NW corners of the Railroad/Main intersection.
h.       Complete curb & gutter ramps west and east side Main at Railroad.
i.         Asphalt paving Kiowa to Railroad. (including milling and overlay between State and Ensign) weather permitting.
j.         Pull wire and set decorative street lights.

The City staff, ECI and their subconsultants say thank you, the businesses and residents of Fort Morgan, for their overall continued support and understanding of the construction activities.

Though it is coming along it is important to obey all construction signage and barriers! The project is still a construction zone so please use the crosswalks.
